Cricket formats and major tournaments

Cricket betting covers three main formats — T20, ODI and Test. Each format has a different pace and character, so the way you bet on each one differs as well.

Format Duration Betting characteristics
T20 20 overs per team Fast-paced; live odds change quickly
ODI 50 overs per team More opportunities to bet up to the mid-innings
Test Up to five days Draw market available; odds change slowly

The most popular tournament in Bangladesh is the BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) — a franchise-based T20 league where the Tigers' stars take the field. Alongside it, India's IPL and the ICC's T20 World Cup are particularly popular with Bangladeshi fans. International bilateral series are also covered on bhaggo, so there are betting opportunities throughout the year.

Football and other sports betting

Alongside cricket, bhaggo also offers football betting. The audience for the English Premier League and Spanish La Liga is growing steadily in Bangladesh, so you can bet on matches from these leagues as well.

The main difference between cricket and football betting is the variety of markets. Cricket offers over-by-over betting, follow-on, individual performance markets, and more. Football has handicap, number of corners, first goalscorer, and so on. In Test cricket, a draw is a separate result, meaning you can bet on three possible outcomes — which is not the case in T20 or ODI. Football matches also typically have three results: home win, away win, or draw.

Alongside cricket betting at bhaggo, you can also enjoy online casino games. bhaggo Casino has a range of options from live casino to slots.

Popular betting markets — how they work

Several betting markets are available for cricket at bhaggo. Below is a brief description of seven popular markets.

Match Winner

Picking which team will win the match is the simplest market. In T20 or ODI there are only two options; in Test cricket, a draw is also an option. Example: in Team A vs Team B, if you select Team B and Team B wins, your bet is successful.

Toss Winner

A bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. The result is decided as soon as the toss takes place. It is brief and independent — not directly linked to team form or pitch conditions.

Top Batsman

A bet on which batsman will score the most runs in the match. You can bet separately on either team. Being a performance-based market, it attracts a lot of interest.

Total Runs Over/Under

Choosing whether the total runs scored in an innings or the whole match will be more (over) or less (under) than a set number. Example: if the line for the first innings is 160 runs and Team A scores 175, the 'over' bet wins.

Top Bowler

A bet on which bowler will take the most wickets in the match. Many people take an interest in this market by considering the opposition's batting lineup and the nature of the pitch.

Multi Bet

Combining multiple bets multiplies the total odds. Example: picking three teams across three separate matches at 1.60 × 1.70 × 1.90 = 5.17 odds — but all bets must win together.

Handicap and innings betting

In handicap markets, a team is given a notional advantage or disadvantage to level the contest. Example: if Team A is given a -30 run handicap, 30 runs are deducted from their actual score to determine the result — this is not tied to any specific stake or return.

How to read odds — three formats

On bhaggo and other betting sites, odds may be displayed in three different formats — decimal, fractional, and American. All three express the same probability; only the presentation differs.

Example 1 — the same odds in three formats (Team A win, stake ৳500)

Decimal 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125.
If Team A wins, total return is ৳1,125 (৳625 profit + ৳500 stake); if Team A loses, ৳500 is lost.

Example 2 — favourite's odds (Team B win, stake ৳500)

Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American -400.
American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100. On a ৳500 stake, total return is ৳625 (৳125 profit).

The decimal format is the simplest — multiply the number directly by your stake to get the total return. In the American format, a plus (+) means underdog (profit on a 100 stake), and a minus (−) means favourite (how much you need to stake to win 100).

Live Betting

In-play betting — bet while the game is on

Live in-play betting lets you place bets in real time while a match is in progress. In cricket this is particularly engaging, because odds shift quickly with every wicket, six, or dot ball.

For example, if Team A loses a big wicket in the 12th over of a T20 match, the odds for Team B to win shorten — creating an opportunity to place a live bet in favour of Team B at that moment. Similarly, in over-by-over run markets, you can place a bet after the first ball of an over.

In a Test match, if pitch conditions change during the final session of the day, a spin bowler's chances of taking wickets may increase — and that shift is reflected in the live odds. In-play betting requires quick decisions, as odds can change after every ball.

Keep in mind that bhaggo's mobile app makes live betting convenient from anywhere. The app is available for Android and iOS, but must be obtained through the official channel. If you want to play casino games, you will find details on popular slot games at the bhaggo Slots page.

Practical tips for cricket betting

Betting is a form of entertainment. These tips will help you enjoy it thoughtfully.

1

Understand the format before you bet

The approach differs across T20, ODI and Test. In T20, odds move fast; in Test cricket, you need to follow five days of developments.

2

Focus on one market

Start by gaining experience in the match winner market. Betting on multiple markets at the same time makes managing your budget harder.

3

Set a budget

Decide on a fixed amount before each session. Betting is for entertainment — do not stake more than you can afford to lose.

4

Be careful with multi bets

Even though odds increase in a multi bet, all selections must win together. If one bet loses, the entire multi bet is lost.

5

Play responsibly

bhaggo has responsible gaming features. Read the responsible gaming guide to learn about the rules around betting.

6

No rushing in live betting

Odds change quickly in in-play betting. Consider the situation carefully before placing a bet rather than acting on impulse.

Frequently asked questions — cricket betting

BPL is Bangladesh's franchise T20 league — it has a special appeal for Bangladeshi fans because of the local teams and familiar faces. IPL is India's top-tier T20 competition, featuring the best players in the world. Since both are T20 format, the betting markets are broadly the same — match winner, top batsman, total runs over/under, and so on. BPL usually has fewer teams, so the markets may be somewhat more limited.

In T20, the match is over in just 20 overs, so live odds shift quickly with every ball. A big shot or a wicket can change the situation instantly. In a Test match, odds move more slowly across each session over five days — pitch conditions, weather, and the length of batting partnerships all matter. In Test cricket, a draw is a possible result, so you can bet across three markets.

A multi bet generally allows you to add selections from multiple different matches. Correlated bets from the same match — such as match winner and top batsman from the same game — are usually restricted from being placed in the same multi bet, because they depend on each other. Combining bets from different matches or tournaments multiplies the total odds — but if any single selection loses, the entire multi bet is lost.

Calculating your return from decimal odds is straightforward — just multiply the odds by your stake. Example: if Team A's odds are 2.25 and your stake is ৳500, the total return is 2.25 × ৳500 = ৳1,125 (profit ৳625 + original stake ৳500). Odds never go below 1.00 — 1.00 means you only get your stake back, anything above 1.00 means there is a profit. The higher the odds, the greater the potential profit but the lower the chance of winning.

If a match is abandoned midway due to rain or another reason, the result is generally settled according to the applicable rules. In ODI and T20, if the minimum required number of overs has not been bowled, the match may be declared void — in which case the stake is refunded. For some markets, settlement happens once a specific stage of the match (such as the first innings) is complete. For specific rules, see bhaggo's terms and conditions.
